The Storytelling for Good Community Guidelines

Storytelling for Good is for people who want to tell stories with purpose. We want you to feel free to share your big ideas here (because you get to keep them). We want you to contribute to the community (but in a way that is positive and nurturing of new ideas). Mostly, we hope that when you visit Storytelling for Good you’ll know we are working really hard to make an open community for you (because we are).

We know you will use Storytelling for Good to tell incredible stories and to help other do the same. To help make that possible for everyone, all users are required to follow our community guidelines.

Share and be shared.

Storytelling for Good is about sharing big ideas and getting feedback from a community of people just like you. If you’re posting or sharing content in Storytelling for Good, we assume it’s because you have the right to do so. Do not use someone else’s copyrighted or trademarked work as your own and always give credit where it’s due. We will respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement as laid out in our Terms of Service.

Be nice.

Storytelling for Good welcomes everyone regardless of gender, gender expression, sex, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or creed. We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment, bullying and hate speech. Content that is flagged by users or identified by administrators as being harassing will be temporarily removed and investigated. User accounts found to be posting harassing content will be removed from Storytelling for Good. We also reserve the right to take additional action, which may include reporting content or individuals to the authorities.

Keep it clean.

We understand that many social impact organizations are dealing with tough issues like human trafficking, reproductive health and sexual assault, however, suggestive nudity or other inappropriate images will not be tolerated on Storytelling for Good. Images or content flagged as being inappropriate by users or by the administrator will be temporarily removed and reviewed. Users found to be posting suggestive content will be warned, and if found to be in violation will be subsequently removed from Storytelling for Good.

Don’t be a spammer.

We know your organization is working really hard to create change, but let’s keep brand and self promotion to a respectful minimum. We’re a community of people learning together, so instead of broadly posting your special offers, fundraisers and requests for proposals, make a friend who can help you improve your pitch, share an idea or respond to your RFP.

Be 13 (or older).

We hate to be exclusive here, but if you’re under 13, we’re afraid this community isn’t for you. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we will automatically close accounts for users under 13.

Finally.

We’ll try not to, but we do reserve the right to change these rules at anytime, without notice. While you’re here check out our Terms of Service.

A Note on Inspiration

These Community Guidelines were inspired by Medium, Storehouse and XOXO, progenitors of the same kind of thoughtful communities we hope to have here at Storytelling for Good.
